Raised by her single mom, Blake Holsey High is just Josie's latest stop in a long line of boarding schools. Her mom has some sort of secretive job and travels all the time, so Josie has learned to be independent. Josie has always been fascinated by science, relativity and why things are the way they are. Independent and always something of a misfit loner, she finally finds her place at Blake Holsey High.

Once she joins Professor Z's science club, she catches on quickly and often seems to be one step ahead of everyone else. Whether solving scientific problems or unraveling complex equations, it all comes so easy to her. The deeper she digs into the intrigue surrounding the events at the school, the more Josie's character is tested. But her trials allow her to find a strength she never knew she had. And it's that strength that makes her a leader and someone the rest of the group learns to look up to and count on.
