Get Ready ... Get Set ... Start your preschooler off on a life-long love of learning!
Ready Set Learn! promotes optimism, persistence and resilience ... the skills your preschooler needs to get started on a lifelong love of learning!
Meet Paz, a 5-year-old boy penguin and the delightful new companion and host of Ready Set Learn!, Discovery Kids' preschool block. RSL's pint-sized penguin has a big imagination and looks at the world with the wide-eyed optimism, energy and curiosity inherent in preschoolers. Appearing at the top of each and every half-hour of programming in eight-minute story- and curriculum-based episodes, Paz provides a familiar touchstone for the viewing audience throughout each morning of Ready Set Learn!
Each Paz episode is designed to help preschoolers develop the beliefs, skills and behaviors that encourage an optimistic and resilient approach to the challenges that learning and living present. Paz uses this general learning strategy as a vehicle to model many other skills, such as introducing children to content area information, stimulating cognitive skills, and enhancing interpersonal and intrapersonal understanding. Content areas include, but are not limited to: literacy, decoding, numeracy, science, geography, social studies, music, art and dance.
More about Paz
A prestigious advisory board of early childhood experts, including members of the National Head Start Association (NHSA) and the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), works with Discovery Kids on the curriculum and the series to ensure that Paz takes a thoughtful, developmental, appropriate approach to its young audience.
Based on a popular book series by Irish author Mary Murphy, Paz is inspired by the fascinating experiences that occur in a preschooler's everyday world. Each episode offers young viewers a stimulating mix of live-action puppetry and whimsical animation. Warm and inviting, Paz's world — in both live action and animation — is full of bright primary colors, engaging props and cheerful locations, giving kids a viewing environment that is both vibrant and uncluttered. Paz also uniquely utilizes music to help stimulate children's auditory development by giving them thematic cues that signal recognition of characters and their emotions.
While Paz's natural curiosity allows him to explore his world with wide-eyed enthusiasm, his mom, Big Penguin, or his grandfather, Pappy, are never too far away with the advice and support Paz needs. Whether Paz is learning to fly a kite or mastering the mechanics of a seesaw, feeling jealous of a friend or afraid of the dark, his daily adventures with his friends, Pig, Dog and Rabbit, are shown from a child's perspective with a gentle and often humorous spin.
