Madagascar Hissing Cockroach

This cool-looking roach lives in Madagascar, one of the worlds largest island countries just east of the continent of Africa.

Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches are very large. They are famous for their hissing sounds and live near river banks and around logs.

Pictured is a typical Madagascar Hissing Cockroach. They can hiss for up to five minutes, and enjoy a nice meal of bananas and mangoes. Believe it or not, these hissers make great pets and classroom mates!
