How to play Soccer
Soccer is played on a field or pitch with two netted goals. Two 11-player teams try to get a ball into the opposing goal. They have two 45-minute periods and can use any parts of their bodies except their arms or hands. No direct physical contact with other players is allowed. When the time is up, the team with the most goals wins. The goalkeeper or goalie tries to block the opposing team from scoring, and is allowed to use his or her hands to do so. Other than cleated shoes and shin pads, most soccer players don't wear any special protective equipment. Goalies do wear gloves (for grip and padding), and their uniform may have protective padding sewn inside.
